THE FINAL FOUR--NO, NOT BASKETBALL, SILLY!

We're down to the final four.  The football final four.  Of the NFL.  On the road to Super Bowl 50.  Of course you know that.

But did you know that it is entirely possible that this will be the final match-up EVER of 2 shoe-in Hall of Fame quarterbacks, none other than Peyton Manning and Tom Brady?  Or that the other game features the 2 highest-scoring teams, Carolina and Arizona, in the NFL?  And that each conference game will be a battle between the #1 and #2 seeds?  Oh, you did?

Well it is little wonder--there has been so much written, said, analyzed, dissected, declared, argued, and preached about the two conference championships that will take place this Sunday that everyone is already on overload with so much information.  There is just not a lot to add about anything or anyone..............except maybe some picayune fun facts about the four teams, brought to us by Rachel Wold and Mike Cole of Yardbarker fame, after an exhaustive search by yours truly.  Game on!

     1.  This is the first time ever, since the Super Bowl began in 1967, that 2 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks have faced each other in a conference championship.  Carson Palmer of the Arizona Cardinals won in 2002 and Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers won in 2010.  Not only that, they were both the #1 overall picks in their respective drafts!

     2.  Although this will be the 17th meeting between Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos and Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, neither quarterback has won a playoff game on the other's home field!  (Advantage:  Manning)  Indeed, Brady is 2-6 in playing at Mile High Stadium in Denver.  However, Brady leads the overall total meetings of the two 11-6.

     3.  Carolina has not lost a game at home for 425 days!  It was Week 11 in the 2014 season against the Atlanta Falcons.

     4.  Arizona has had an amazing run on the road in the 2015 season.  They are 7-1...a franchise record!  Furthermore, the have actually scored more points on the road (262) than at home (227) during the regular season.

     5.  The Patriots, back in Week 2 of 2001 when QB Drew Bledsoe went down with an injury, put rookie Tom Brady in the game against--wait for it--Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.  Brady won--lucky for him--because had he not played well, the Patriots were going to go with someone like available veteran Jim Harbaugh for the rest of the season.  But Brady earned another chance, and a Super Bowl ring, that year.

And that, fellow football fanatics, is THE END for now--until it all starts again ten-fold during the 2-week agonizing wait for Super Sunday.  And unless you have found any other trivia--in the good sense-- in your exhaustive searches!  If so, please enlighten us!
