IS IT TIME TO PANIC OUT HERE IN THE WILD WEST?  Insider opinions and fan poll results hollered a loud, resounding “NO!” this week as we inch closer to the regular season openers.  

Oh, right, sorry-- panic about what, you ask?  Why, the only thing that really matters to the Bronco Nation and to a lot of that other nation—you know, the USA—as well:  

Is Peyton Manning, our Sheriff, our iconic lock for the HOF (Hall of Fame), washed up?

ABSOLUTELY NOT, say 71% of Denver fans in one new poll and 83% in another.  NO WAY, say his receivers, who think his throws are harder and stronger than ever.  NOT YET, say the Denver sports’ big guns, agreeing that Sheriff Manning will lasso Kubiak’s new offense and young O-line in due time.  FINGERS CROSSED, says the admiring rest of the country, because who doesn’t love Peyton?  

Did he look shaky in the pre-season?  Yes. But all are citing comparisons back to when the Sheriff was new in town.  Then he had to learn a new offense, too, and had to fight off comments like “too old,” “looks rough,” “neck injury too severe” for the first half of the season.  But the Sheriff just talked low and walked slow.  Then, when it was time, he drew both six-shooters, took dead aim at the hearts of the bad guys and went on to “record-breaking magnificence” the next 3 seasons.  And he’ll do it again.  He’s the SHERIFF—he is the LAW in these parts—until he hangs up his spurs for good.

So Boot Hill?  Buzzard bait?  Think again, buckaroos!  

We won’t be buffaloed!  We’re fixing to strike another bonanza here in the Mile High City!  There’s a trophy in them ‘thar hills!  And we’re going to call our new claim “The Super Bowl”!
