1. RIVALRIES The Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers have arguably the fiercest rivalry in college football today. It goes back all the way to 1893, when the two teams began meeting annually. It is known as the "Iron Bowl," possibly because of the prevalence of iron deposits around the Birmingham area, and is taken with great seriousness in the state of Alabama. In fact, it is said that when meeting someone new, before name or occupation is asked, the question, "Alabama or Auburn?" is posed.
2. COACHES Of the eight NCAA coaches who have won three or more national titles, only two are active today: Nick Saban with 4 (Alabama, 2012, 2011, 2009; LSU, 2003); and Urban Meyer with 3 (Ohio State, 2014; Florida, 2008, 2006). The other six are legendary coach Bear Bryant (6), Bernie Bierman (5), Frank Leahy (4), John McKay (4), Barry Switzer (3), and Bud Wilkinson (3).

3. WINS Perennial powerhouse Michigan holds the record for most wins all-time with 918.
4. NICKNAMES Longtime (25 years at Alabama) coach Bear Bryant's famous nickname of "Bear" goes all the way back to 1926, when he was a 13 year-old youngster who already stood 6'1" and weighed 180 pounds. While the details are foggy, what is known is that he went to a traveling carnival and wrestled a bear to win a $1. Part of his ear was bitten off and the $1 was never paid, but the nickname stuck. In fact, today most fans probably could not tell you his real name (Paul).
